One thing you will need to make this system work will be an email service provider.

These come in all different price ranges as well as services they provide.

All these are considered CRM’s (customer relationship management). But, usually a true CRM is much more robust with more capabilities you can use to market to your list.

The one thing we will need which low end CRM’s don’t have that high end ones do is the ability to segment the list.

Get Response is the software I use because it has the ease of segmentation of the higher end CRM’s with the price tag of a simple email auto responder software.

The most popular of the low end email auto responders is Aweber. I used to use Aweber for a while, but stopped when I started segmenting my lists.

Why is segmenting so important?

We use segmenting to narrow our focus on what our prospects really want. The more focused you marketing is to your prospects own needs, the better chance you have to selling them something.

Let’s say your trying to sell cars.

If your marketing talks about all different sorts of car you have available, you might be able to sell some.

But if your prospect is looking for a minivan to haul their whole family, you have a better chance at selling them something if you tell them about all the minivans you have available.

This is why we segment. And, this is why Get Response is much better than a software like Aweber.

Get Response makes segmenting easy. You can set up a series of rules like if people click on a link or open a certain email.

Lets say you set up in your email a question like, “Would you like to learn more about minivans? Click on this link below.”

Anyone who clicks on the link will be segmented to a different email series just talking about minivans.

More powerful CRM’s will give the user the ability to tag a person saying they want to hear about minivans. Then the person can have several tags and still remain on the same general list.

These CRM’s come with a healthy price tag and for the system we will be using Get Response will be the best option for the money.

You also need to segment people into lists f buyers and non buyers. Your marketing message will change as soon as someone becomes a buyer. They have already taken the time to purchase what you are selling, so turning them into a repeat customer will be the next goal.

You will want to speak differently towards them. Your pitch will be completely different than someone you are trying to sell for the first time.
